Hard technology of PCB multilayer proofing production

With the progress of society and the development of science and technology, new electronic products are constantly emerging, which makes the application field and market of printed circuit board (PCB) products constantly expanding, and at the same time, the demand for electronic information processing of all kinds of products is gradually increasing. When the demand of the terminal market becomes personalized, diversified and customized, if the PCB wants to achieve a satisfactory performance, the board layer must be expanded to more than two layers, so the multilayer PCB circuit board appears.
Multi-layer PCB is mainly used as the “core force” in communication, medical treatment, industrial control, security, automobile, electric power, aviation, military industry, computer peripheral and other fields. According to the data released by Prismark, in 2020, multilayer board and flexible board will still dominate, accounting for 37.39% and 20.01% respectively.
As the product functions become higher and higher, and the PCB becomes more and more precise, the production difficulty of PCB proofing becomes more and more difficult. Compared with the characteristics of conventional circuit boards, high-rise circuit boards have the characteristics of thicker boards, more layers, denser lines and vias, larger unit size, thinner dielectric layer, etc. The requirements of inner space, interlayer alignment, impedance control and reliability are stricter. Faced with the problems of severe environmental protection, expensive labor, shrinking profits and fierce market competition in the PCB industry, the cost of multi-layer circuit boards is much higher than that of single-layer and double-layer boards, and it is difficult to control the quality. If customers have no intention to place large-scale orders, generally PCB manufacturers will usually find a foundry or put forward corresponding cooperation conditions, considering the cost and cooperation value.
Then, many customers lack understanding of technology and have suffered a lot. Many PCB manufacturers engaged in price wars, once cutting the proofing price of single and double-layer boards to an astonishing single digit, even free of charge. However, the PCB factory itself does not have advanced equipment. In order to save costs, it can only be done by other foundries. The key point is that the foundries actually have many defects, which are unqualified in equipment and technology, resulting in uncontrollable quality. Finally, they are delivered to customers and become defective products, which can’t give full play to product performance at all.

The quality, reliability and stability that customers have always been concerned about are what the workshop always attaches great importance to. As the number of PCB layers increases, the wiring difficulty index also increases, so the requirements of manufacturing cost and technological capability are relatively high. The workshop has invested a lot of money and manpower in research and development, management system, quality process control, etc. of high-level multilayer boards, and has mature process capability and advanced process equipment, as well as a team of professional technicians and independent R&D engineers to meet the needs of customers for high-level multilayer boards, thus ensuring the output and reliability of product quality.
