Loongson processor history and scheme development strategy

Loongson series processor chips are processor chips developed by Loongson Zhongke Technology Co., Ltd. with independent intellectual property rights. The products are mainly 32-bit and 64-bit single-core and multi-core CPU/SOC, which are mainly for national security, high-end embedded, personal computers, servers and high-performance machines. The product line includes three series: godson-1 small CPU, Godson 2 medium CPU and Godson 3 large CPU.
Godson-1 CPU (hereinafter referred to as “godson-1”) series 32-bit processors adopt GS132 or GS232 processor cores and integrate various peripheral interfaces to form a single-chip solution for specific applications, which is mainly used in cloud terminals, industrial control, data acquisition, handheld terminals, network security, consumer electronics and other fields. Godson 1A and Godson 1B CPU introduced in 2011 have the characteristics of rich interface functions, low power consumption, high cost performance and wide application. Loongson 1A can also be used as a PCI south bridge. Loongson 1C and Loongson 1D, which were introduced in 2013 and 2014 respectively, are customized for fingerprint biometrics and ultrasonic metrology, and have the characteristics of low cost, low power consumption, rich functions and outstanding performance. In 2015, the newly developed Loongson 1H chip was designed for logging-while-drilling applications in the field of oil drilling, with a target working temperature of 175℃.

The CPU series of Loongson 2 (hereinafter referred to as Loongson 2) adopts GS464 or GS264 high-performance processor cores and integrates various peripheral interfaces to form 64-bit high-performance low-power SoC chips for embedded computers, industrial control, mobile information terminals, automotive electronics, etc. Loongson 2F, which was launched in 2008, has been industrialized and popularized in recent years, and now it has been applied on a large scale. The more integrated Loongson 2H was launched in 2013, which can be used as an independent SoC chip or as a bridge of Loongson 3. At present, the Godson 2K1000 processor in the fields of target security, mobile and industrial control has completed the system development and stability test.
Loongson No.3 CPU (hereinafter referred to as “Loongson No.3”) series processors, with multiple GS464 or 3GS464E high-performance processor cores and necessary storage and IO interfaces integrated on the chip, are aimed at high-end embedded computers, desktop computers, servers, high-performance computers and other applications. At the end of 2009, the quad-core Loongson 3A was introduced, and in 2011, the eight nuclear Loongson 3B1000 with 65nm was introduced. In 2012, the eight nuclear Loongson 3B1500 with higher performance designed by 32nm process was introduced. Its highest frequency can reach 1.5GHz, support vector operation is accelerated, and the highest peak computing capacity can reach 192GFLOPS. In 2015, a new generation of Loongson 3A2000/3B2000 was successfully developed (3B2000 is a server-oriented version), and its comprehensive performance increased by 2-4 times when the basic power consumption was equivalent to 3A1000. In 2016, the Loongson 3A3000/3B3000 chip with 28nm process was successfully streamed, with the main frequency of 1.5-2.0ghz. Besides the performance improvement brought by frequency, the microstructure adjusted the fixed-point pipeline, increased the shared Cache capacity, and greatly improved the chip performance.
