What are the factors that affect PCB delivery?

When a customer places an order, the PCB factory will reply to you with a delivery date, but sometimes there will be delivery delay. For customized products, this delivery delay is understandable. Especially this year, affected by the epidemic situation, the backlog of orders, the shortage of staff, the untimely supply of upstream materials and other reasons have caused everyone to suffer from the delivery problem!
Then, apart from this special situation, what are the factors that only affect the delivery date of PCB production? Today, Xiaobian gives you a brief talk:
One: engineering EQ asking guests.
This is very common in our multi-layer board factory. In many cases, the engineers of the board factory do the information at night, and the customers rest there. It is normal that the engineering production will be delayed for 1 or 2 days due to the untimely communication, the ambiguity of EQ processing, or the need to update the drawings.

Second, the technological process is special.
For example, a 4-layer impedance board, many customers often tell me that some Allegro factory made it in 4-5 days. How do you need 6-7 days? Actually, there is a technical problem involved here. Many Allegro factories take the way of assembling different orders to produce lines. Moreover, their impedance boards are not controlled in production, so customers need to adjust the impedance according to their laminated structure and directly produce them. Such impedance boards do save time, but the impedance value is not guaranteed at all.
However, when dealing with the impedance board, our multi-layer board factory takes a single board off-line, which means that even if you have a model, we all allocate the impedance separately, go down to the production line, and then finish the line and test the tolerance accuracy of the line. In this way, the time will be much slower, but the impedance value is absolutely guaranteed. Therefore, different manufacturers have different positioning and different products.
There are also some thick copper plates, HDI plates, semi-perforated plates, and perforated plates in plates, all of which will lead to different delivery dates due to different processes.

Third, the board has many test points and complex shape.
Some customers’ order test points are very dense, and they will be delayed for a long time in the flying probe test. They will conduct open-circuit test and retest, while others need to repair the board and retest. This time delay of 1 or 2 days is also common. Some boards are complicated in appearance or thick in thickness, resulting in several times of delay in the appearance of gong boards.

Four; Scrap supplementary material.
Some orders are completely scrapped or partially scrapped when a certain link is completed, and they all need to be re-fed and started to be made in batches. This situation is most often encountered in the field of HDI boards and difficulty boards!

In addition to the four points mentioned in the above small series, there are actually many factors that affect the delivery date. I would like to share so much here, hoping to increase everyone’s understanding of PCB production and help your work!
