What is probe compensation

What is probe compensation
When connecting the probe to any input channel for the first time, you need to adjust the probe compensation to match the probe with the input channel to prevent measurement errors or errors. Taking channel 1 as an example, the steps of probe compensation adjustment are as follows:
(1) Set the probe attenuation coefficient and the attenuation switch on the probe to 10, and connect the oscilloscope probe to channel 1. Connect the hook-shaped tip of the probe to the signal output terminal (D) of the probe compensator, connect the reference wire clamp to the ground connection terminal (T) of the probe compensator, turn on channel 1, and then press the Auto key.
(2) Check the shape of the displayed waveform.
Repeat the above steps as needed until the displayed waveform shape reaches the standard. (1) Adjust the variable capacitance on the probe until the waveform displayed on the screen is 1 kHz, 3 square wave output. The digital storage oscilloscope has the function of automatically adjusting the waveform display. According to the input signal, the vertical, horizontal and trigger control of each channel are automatically adjusted to the optimized waveform display. The application of automatic control requires that the measured signal be a repetitive waveform with a frequency of at least 50 Hz.
(3) Adjust the probe ratio.
In order to match the probe’s attenuation coefficient 1:1, 1. :1, 100: 1, 1 000: 1, need to select the probe attenuation scale factor 1 x, 10 x, 100 x, 1 000 x in the corresponding input channel operation menu. For example, the probe attenuation coefficient is 10:1, and the probe attenuation ratio coefficient of the oscilloscope input channel should also be set to 10x, so that the probe matches the input channel and displays the correct vertical gear information and measurement data.
Set the attenuation switch of the probe to 1x and press the CH2T probe key at the same time to select the attenuation ratio coefficient of the probe as lx. The measured data is correct at this time. If the attenuation coefficient of the probe does not match the attenuation ratio coefficient of the probe selected in the input channel operation menu, the display information of the vertical gear will be expanded (or reduced) by the same ratio as the probe attenuation ratio coefficient displayed in the menu. The actual vertical The gear value should be reduced (or enlarged) by the same ratio.
